When we were first introduced to Samantha Casselles of Handepay our website payment system used the LloydsTSB Cardnet credit card payment system. This was linked to the SagePay / PROTX system so that we could also take payments over the phone. What was missing from our setup was the ability to take payments while we were attending trade shows at the NEC, Olympia, Earls Court and ExCel.
Samantha took time to understand how our business worked and put forward a proposal to continue using SagePay but link it through NatWest’s Streamline system. She also suggested that we use a VeriFone Vx670 mobile credit card terminal to enable us to take payments while at the shows.
The benefit to the business was immediate and 3 fold:
- Added the ability to take deposit payments at the shows – this reduced the number of cancelled orders and improved our cash flow
- Payments through the Streamline system entered our bank account quicker than the cardnet system, again improving our cashflow
- Our overall costs did not increase as we made a saving on the commission element of our credit card transactions that offset the monthly rental of the mobile credit card terminal
