Customer Case Study - Leif Tearooms & Piano Bar

After being converted from a run-down pub four years ago, LEIF Tearooms and Piano Bar provides a unique getaway for the residents of Leamington Spa; offering a wide range of loose-leaf teas and speciality coffees. A pianist creates a relaxing atmosphere for diners during the day, however the doors stay open late into the night for live music and open mic sessions.

As the business receives 80% of its payments on card, manager Gursh Atwal decided to upgrade to a contactless card machine to take advantage of faster payment methods.

“Our previous terminal was a bit dated, and the majority of our customers expected to be able to pay using contactless, including Apple and Android Pay.  We run a modern bar, so we need contactless card machine that’s secure and up-to-date.

The terminal we upgraded to is much faster, and now our customers can pay the way they want to pay, which is both quick and easy. The switchover process was seamless, it was quick and simple and we were thrilled to discover that the new machine is much easier to use.

We have no minimum spend on our machine, and our customers can pay for something as small as a cookie using their card. Previously, this could increase the number of customers waiting to pay; but thanks to our contactless card machine we’ve been able to reduce queueing time!”
