Owner of Gilberts Equestrian and Country, Penny Gilbert, has grown her equestrian clothing and supplies business over the past ten years. During lockdown she expanded the company, now selling plants and country lifestyle products.
Penny accessed Handepay Business Finance to boost her cash flow.
“Saving money and maintaining a healthy cash flow is such an important part of running a business.
When I joined Handepay in 2018, I was swayed by the great savings on offer, plus the personalised service. The support I’ve received over the past two years has been excellent.
In January 2020, I was pleased to discover that Handepay had introduced a business finance option, provided by YouLend, that can be paid back through the takings on the card machine.
I decided to use the service as a quick and simple way to boost my cashflow at the beginning of the year, applying was simple and I had the money I needed in no time at all!
No one could have predicted how 2020 would turn out, but it was certainly a strange year for businesses.
At the beginning of the pandemic and national lockdown, everybody assumed that I was closed. My shop is tucked away, so we don’t get much passing trade.
However, the business was able to remain open as we’re a stockist of essential pet food products.
Foot fall and visitor numbers were down, so I planned to diversify to bring in more money over the summer. I filled our car park with outdoor plants, alongside garden accessories.
I’ve done a roaring trade! There’s no other garden supplies stores locally, so I’ve managed to expand my customer base.
I contacted Handepay Business Finance again in July, to renew my funding and boost cash flow during the summer months.
I don’t have to worry about repayments, as a small amount of my daily card transactions are automatically taken to repay. There’s no need to save up a large monthly fee, and no admin hassles involved in paying.
It’s a relief to have a quick and simple finance option available whenever I need it!”
