Don’t have a small business website? You could be missing out on £20,000 per year!

A new study has revealed that UK companies without a small business website could be missing out on £20,000 in extra profits per year.

The research, carried out by e-commerce website eBay, showed that if these businesses started trading online they could generate a combined revenue increase of up to £20.2bn every year. This would lead to a boost of £8.4bn per year to the UK economy.

A 2015 study showed that 60 per cent of small businesses in the UK still don’t have a website, with a fifth of those owners missing out due to worries surrounding the costs involved. However, a small business website doesn’t have to cost the earth. It’s now possible to develop your own online presence without expert coding knowledge, using simple pre-designed themes on websites such as WordPress.

Other concerns raised by small business owners included online security and the time required to maintain a website. 40% of those surveyed also had no social media accounts for their business, meaning that their business had no digital footprint whatsoever.
